Class Descriptions
Yoga Basics ~ with Sally
This is a great class for not only beginners, but anyone wanting to focus on fundamentals. Sally takes you through the basics with focus on proper alignment(she studied under the Iyengar lineage, for those who know and care what that is) and maintaining a working, functional body to take you through life. Her easy going and encouraging teaching style as well as her decades of experience makes her much loved by her students.
Recovery Dharma
Recovery Dharma is a peer-led community that utilizes Buddhist practices and philosophy as the foundation of our process of recovery from addictions and addictive behaviors, whether caused by substance abuse, process addictions, or any obsessive/habitual pattern that creates suffering. We meet each week to practice meditation, self-inquiry, wisdom, compassion, and community building as tools for recovery and healing. For more information visit the website or our local Facebook group.
Mindfulness Meditation Group
The Mindfulness Meditation Group is open to those with an interest in and some experience with meditation. We open with a 25 minute round of sitting meditation followed by a 5-10 minute round of walking meditation. After this, the leader will do a reading/talk followed by a discussion among the group about what was presented. A donation is requested to help support the cost of the space
Instructors
Sally Hebert

Sally has been practicing yoga for 40 years and has taught for more than 20. Her primary influence has been through the Iyengar tradition which stresses the importance of alignment through the use of props. “I believe in focusing on what our bodies can do, not on what they can’t do. I love yoga” – Sally
Dennis Wise

Dennis is a certified pilates instructor and has been teaching for 20 years. He also offers Qi Gong classes as well as Qi Nei Tsang sessions.
Neil Gresham

For Neil, teaching yoga is about holding space for the practitioner. In each of his classes, cultivating a sanctuary for a person to move safely and connect with feeling is the foundation. His emphasis on breath and posture creates a meditation of the senses. Along with hands-on adjustments and verbal cues, students are offered a way to deeply and mindfully experience each pose. Neil’s intention behind teaching is to offer students a way to feel connection; in mind, body and spirit. He believes that from that integration and practice, a person can live a happier, more fulfilled life. Neil’s teaching is mainly based on Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, which is the “mother” of many styles of yoga. Neil uses yoga as a vessel for helping people to calm the ongoing chatter of the mind, reduce stress, and make a deeper connection to themselves.
Neil has been practicing since 2004, and teaching since 2009. Integration of body, mind, and spirit is one of the many benefits that yoga has brought him. To him, it is an honor to share what he has learned along the way. Neil’s interests include: Community, Cooking, Travel, Music, Mystery, Motorcycles and Romance.
Jarrod Roy
Jarrod Roy is a certified Viniyoga Instructor. Viniyoga is a comprehensive and authentic transmission of the teachings of yoga including āsana, prāṇāyāma, bandha, sound, chanting, meditation, personal ritual and study of texts. Viniyoga (prefixes vi and ni plus yoga) is an ancient Sanskrit term that implies differentiation, adaptation, and appropriate application. Jarrod promises to give you an authentic experience of yoga. He possesses an unmistakable passion and joy for teaching and spiritual study, upholding the full breadth of the ancient yoga tradition.
Jarrod’s approach to yoga is gentle, inclusive, intuitive, and adaptive. You can expect him to lovingly challenge you beyond only asana postering. He promises to enliven your breath, your intellect, your heart and your spirit through a multi-dimensional approach, interweaving: pranayama, mantra, meditation and spiritual philosophy into his classes. His goal is empowerment by awakening the teacher within the student.
Gretchen Wright
Gretchen Wright, a non-practicing Dental Hygienist, began practicing the Pilates method in 2005 and fell in love with this style of movement. The rigorous demands of the Dental Hygienist profession had a profound effect on her body & led her on a path of discovery. Her body was fatigued, malaligned and inflamed. This experience blessed her in many ways; she discovered Pilates and completed comprehensive training from Body Arts and Science International in 2008. The Pilates method teaches several core principles: Centering, concentration, control, precision, breath, alignment, and flow. It is with great intent that these principles assist the client in conscious movement. Pilates opens a doorway for self-study, starting with the physical body and how it moves through space. This method was responsible for teaching Gretchen to move from the center of the center.
James Knapp

James Knapp roots his life in practice. Since his Kriya Yoga initiation in 2011, his path has carried him through world travels, meditation studies in North India, and years of Ashtanga yoga and holistic wellness consulting. Both student and guide, and the founder of The Men’s Portal, James supports men and his local community return—again and again—to presence. His work is grounded in breath, discipline, and a reverent connection to the natural world.

Fees
Most of the group classes at Camélia House are generously offered by donation, unless otherwise stated. This means that you pay what you can, or feel that you should when you come to class. Yoga was traditionally always taught by donation only and we want these simple wellness routines to be accessible to anyone who wants to practice. However, we do expect a contribution in exchange for the instructors expertise and time, as well as for the comfortable space for you to practice in. We suggest $15-$25 as an acceptable donation, with a minimum of $10($15 minimum for a credit card). If you do not have this, please talk to the teacher about trading some time and energy, instead. Helping in the maintenance and running of the studio is a very acceptable donation and much more appreciated than your loose change. What you choose to donate represents the value you place on this service that we aim to make affordable for everyone. It will only continue to exists through the support of its patrons.
Our goal is to build a community of acceptance. Whoever you are, whatever you can contribute, we will accept with gratitude. Pay what you can, get what you need.
Mats are available for use, free of charge. Please wipe them down and roll them back up neatly before returning them to their resting place.
We accept cash, credit cards(with a $15 minimum), and sometimes Venmo(depending on the teacher).
Pilates and yoga privates are also available for a price set by the instructor.
