Deep Tissue Massage
Using deep intense pressure this massage is great for those who want to flush toxins out and loosen adhesions. Best For those who get massages regularly.
Reiki is a Japanese healing art used for energy balancing. Because it is gentle and non-invasive it is a good therapy for cancer patients. Reiki treats the whole person: body, emotions, mind and spirit, creating such benefits as relaxation, increased energy and feelings of peace and well–being.
Rolfing Method of Structural Integration
One individual may perceive his losing fight with gravity as a pain, another as the unflattering contour of his body, a constant fatigue, as a disharmony in their environment…or call it old age. And yet all these signals may be pointing to a single problem, so ubiquitous in their own structure and the structures of others that it has been ignored; they are off balance; they are at war with gravity.”
Dr. Ida P. Rolf Ph.D.
What is Rolfing?
Rolfing is a system of soft-tissue manipulation and movement education designed to help realign the human structure in its entirety making movement more biomechanically efficient. Over the years our bodies react to the physical and emotional strains and demands of life by shortening and twisting. Rolfing aligns and balances the body by lengthening and reorganizing the body appropriately. Rolfing is achieved by manipulating and releasing areas of the body where it is either stuck or held out of balance from lifelong patterns of tension and bracing.
What Does It Do?
For over 45 years people have been coming to Rolfing to get relief from the postural strains that drive most acute and chronic pain including: poor posture headaches, impaired mobility and balance, limitations and pain after surgeries, post-partum realignment, recurring athletic injuries, neck tension, and low back pain. Others seek to maximize performance in athletics, excercise, yoga, or enhance their personal growth.
What to Expect
Rolfing sessions usually last an hour to an hour and a half. At the beginning and end of each session we will evaluate your structure to observe changes that happen during the session. Rolfing is a process and not a passive experience. You may in some sessions be asked in sessions to participate by doing certain movements and providing feedback in order to gain the most benefit from your session.
The “Ten Series”…
Rolfing is most effective in the context of a series of sessions. Classically, Rolfing has been delivered in a ten-session series that addresses the entire body. In the series all the major segments (feet, legs, pelvis, back, shoulders, etc.) are organized and in order to increase alignment and decrease strain/pain. While this is the most beneficial treatment plan, mini-series, “tune up” sessions, and “fix it” sessions are offered. Whether it is over one session or ten sessions, healthier alignment tends to relieve most painful symptoms and create more resiliency to injury and strain.
